Coding Camp (Intermediate)

This week-long intermediate web development camp teaches students how to design, build, deploy, and present a real website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with Cursor (AI) as a coding assistant.

August 3 – August 7, 2026

Join our immersive week-long web development camp from August 3 – August 7, 2026, 12:15–3:00 PM. Students will move beyond basics and learn how real websites are structured, styled, and made interactive with JavaScript. They’ll also learn practical developer workflows like using GitHub and publishing a live site with GitHub Pages. Open to students who’ve completed the beginner camp (or have equivalent experience), with only 5 spots available. On the final day, students will participate in a special showcase to demo their website to parents and friends. The camp costs $75, with a $10 discount for registrations before April 11th, 2026. BUILD A REAL WEBSITE: Page structure with HTML, styling and layout with CSS, and interactivity with JavaScript (buttons, inputs, simple apps, animations).

PUBLISH IT WITH GITHUB PAGES: Set up a repository, make commits, deploy a live URL, and learn how to update the site like a real developer.

USE AI LIKE A PRO: Write clear, structured prompts, get targeted code help, and learn how to iterate safely (small changes, test often).

ADD BASIC WEBSITE ANALYTICS: Install a Google Analytics tag, confirm it’s working, and learn what key metrics mean (pageviews, sessions, traffic sources).

SHOWCASE THEIR PROJECTS: The last day will extend 30 minutes longer so your kids can show off what they made to the parents.

Prerequisites

• Participants need a new computer running macOS, Windows, Chromebook, or Linux
• Students should possess basic computer skills including:
  • Typing (doesn't have to be perfect - it just has to work)
  • Using a mouse or trackpad
• Required experience: completed the Beginner Python + AI Camp
• We expect students to demonstrate appropriate behavior:
  • Ability to listen to and follow instructions
  • Remain engaged in activities
  • Show respect toward instructors and peers

Meet the Instructor

Hawken Parkman (7th grade) brings 3+ years of coding experience in Python and HTML, and taught a weekly Python class at his school. With a maximum class size of 5 participants, each student receives personalized attention. TA Jessa Parkman provides adult supervision throughout all sessions.
